14,000 Megapixel Map - Drones Discover Meteorite

Updated: Mar 21, 2019

Fireballs in the Sky is the award-winning outreach program that connects the public with the research of the Desert Fireball Network based at Curtin University in Perth, Australia.

Together with NASA the research project is expanding to become a Global Fireball Observatory that aims to understand the early workings to the solar system by studying meteorites, fireballs and their pre-earth orbits.

Working with researchers from Curtin University, the Spectre UAV Concepts team have been gathering vast amounts of high-resolution data to help train their artificial intelligence model designed to rapidly identify fallen meteorites. Combining high-resolution, rapid data acquisition techniques with cutting edge machine learning, researchers are able to drastically reduce search time and improve their meteorite detection rates.
